There are many species that have been planted and “invited” to take over the coverage of Casa C (58m2) in Aldeia Rizoma. After few years the plants finally covered the entire roof, going up through a purposely tensioned mesh, transforming it into a flowery mountain. The mini habitat Casa C is now ready.
This was in fact the purpose of Casa C, to be a habitable mountain and inserted in the context of Agroforestry, which was planted as a reforestation process in an area formerly used by the natives to plant cassava. The architecture was built in synchronicity with the implementation of the SAF (Agroforestry System) by the naturalist and botanist Jorge Ferreira with the Quintal das Flores project and labor from the entire Aldeia Rizoma community.
Today, native fruit trees, unconventional edible plants, indigenous Jataí bees carefully distributed by biologist Einar Alonso, make up this ecosystem integrated between the plant world and architecture. The idea of “planting” an agroforestry together with a mini human habitat taught us a lot about processes, interdependence, metabolisms and management.
This integral project is part of a series of fundamental experiences for the development of our “Permarquitecture” concept, launched last year in a 12-month metabolic architecture experiment, a project partnership between Atelier Marko Brajovic and landscape architect Daniela Ruiz in Vila da Terra project in São Paulo.
